Workshop: Consumers, Economics and Energy Systems, 17-18 October 2016, UCD Dublin
17 October, 2016
Consumers will play a crucial role in the future development of sustainable energy systems. This workshop addresses this issue by bringing together the broad range of disciplines that examine the role of the consumer in energy research, including psychology, marketing and economics. The aim of the workshop is to discuss the latest research on consumers and energy, addressing a number of important topics in the energy agenda, such as the role of consumers in future sustainable energy systems; public acceptance of infrastructure; influencing consumer behaviour; policy instruments; and rebound effects.

A range of international experts from different disciplines will present their perspectives on consumer behaviour in the energy field. In an open discussion, they will give an overview of the latest academic research in the field, identify the main areas where research is needed, propose solutions, explore ideas for future research and open the ground for future collaboration.

This workshop is likely to be of interest to researchers in the social sciences and humanities, economics, and engineering and policy makers and industry addressing challenges in the energy system in a carbon-constrained world.
